For this month’s Reading Plan we are returning to the New Testament Epistles. The Epistle to the Ephesians Scripture Plan will take us through Paul’s explanation of how God reconciles us to him in Christ, and in turn enables us to be united with one another.

Unity: 30 Day Ephesians Scripture Plan

Introduction to the Epistle to the Ephesians

Paul wrote to the church in Ephesus from prison in Rome. Unlike some of his other letters, this letter does not contain any correction of false teaching or bad behaviour.

Instead, it contains wonderful encouragement of God’s blessings and instructions for how to live as children of God.

Here are some Key Verses in Ephesians:

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:8-10 ESV

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21 ESV

Purpose of the Epistle to the Ephesians

    Christian Unity in Ephesians

Paul’s purpose in writing the Epistle to the Ephesians is to show them how they are reconciled to God through Jesus Christ, and are therefore also united with each other. Since we are one in Christ, and together make up the body of Christ, we are no longer Jews and Gentiles.

We may have different gifts, and different roles in life but we are to treat each other as children of God.

I have also written an Ephesians Bible Study Guide and Workbook to go with the Unity: 30 Days in Ephesians Scripture Plan. The workbook is undated and can be started at any time. Here you will find a page for each day of the study. The daily worksheets use my 5L Bible Study Method: Letter, Look, Learn, Live, Love which encourages and guides us to look deeper into the text we are reading.
